The Committee
Kilmarnock Sub-Aqua Club (KSAC) operates under a Branch Committee, which members elect annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This democratic process ensures the club runs smoothly and reflects the interests of its divers.
What the Committee Does
First, the Branch Committee manages the club’s activities, finances, and events. In addition, it ensures compliance with ScotSAC standards and promotes safe, enjoyable diving for all members. Typically, the committee includes:
Equipment Officer & Welfare Officer – Maintain gear and support member wellbeing.
Chairperson – Leads meetings and represents KSAC at ScotSAC events.
Branch Diving Officer (BDO) – Oversees diving safety and chairs the Training Committee.
Secretary & Treasurer – Handle administration and finances.
Training Committee
Moreover, the Training Committee, chaired by the Branch Diving Officer, includes qualified instructors. This team plans training sessions, organizes pool and open-water lessons, and monitors diver progress. They also work closely with ScotSAC guidelines to deliver safe, high-quality training.
How ScotSAC Committees Work
Similarly, ScotSAC branches follow a democratic structure. Members elect officers annually, and committees often form sub-groups for training, equipment, and welfare. Consequently, this system ensures transparency and gives members a voice in how the club operates.
