The Scottish Sub-Aqua Club

About the Scottish Sub-Aqua Club (ScotSAC)

The Scottish Sub-Aqua Club (ScotSAC) is the official National Governing Body for scuba diving in Scotland, recognized and supported by sportscotland. Founded in 1953, ScotSAC is one of the oldest amateur diving organizations in Europe, with a proud history of promoting safe and enjoyable diving.

Today, ScotSAC has grown into a vibrant community with around 70 branches and over 1,250 members across Scotland and the North of England. This extensive network allows divers to connect locally while benefiting from national standards and support.

Why Choose ScotSAC?

First and foremost, ScotSAC operates as a non-profit organization, run by divers for divers. This means the focus remains on safety, training, and community rather than commercial interests. As a member, you gain access to:

  • Internationally recognized diving qualifications
  • A structured training system designed for all experience levels
  • Support from fully qualified instructors and experienced divers

Moreover, ScotSAC emphasizes affordability and flexibility. Unlike many commercial dive schools, training within the club system often costs significantly less and adapts to your pace.

Training and Safety Standards

ScotSAC provides every branch with a clear training framework, ensuring consistency and safety across all locations. In addition, the organization works closely with national bodies to maintain high standards for equipment, instruction, and diver welfare. Consequently, members can feel confident that they are learning and diving under trusted guidelines.
