🥽 Try Scuba Diving in Kilmarnock
Experience a Safe, Fun and Fully Supervised Try‑Dive at the Galleon
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater, a Try‑Dive with Kilmarnock Sub Aqua Club is the perfect way to find out. Designed specifically for complete beginners, our sessions let you experience the thrill of scuba diving in a warm, clear and controlled swimming pool before progressing to open‑water training. It’s a relaxed, friendly introduction that gives you a real feel for what scuba diving is all about.
We run Try‑Dives at the Galleon Leisure Centre in Kilmarnock every Monday from 8pm to 10pm (October to April). You don’t need any experience, you don’t need to be ultra‑fit, and you don’t need to buy any equipment — we provide everything. Just bring swimwear, a towel, and a sense of adventure.
⭐ What Happens During Your Try‑Dive?
Your experience starts with a friendly welcome from one of our qualified ScotSAC instructors, who will guide you through the basics. We always take things at your pace, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident before entering the water.
You will receive:
✔ Safety Briefing
We explain how scuba equipment works, how we communicate underwater, and what to expect during the session.
✔ Equipment Demonstration
You’ll get hands‑on familiarity with the mask, fins, buoyancy control device, regulator and air cylinder — everything you need for your first dive.
✔ One‑to‑One Pool Dive
You’ll enter the pool with your instructor, learn how to breathe underwater, adjust your buoyancy and move smoothly around the pool. This is where the magic happens!
✔ Next‑Steps Guidance
After your dive, we’ll explain how you can join the club and begin your ScotSAC Branch Diver training if you choose to continue.
